Get ready for the end-of-the season concert "Destination Sydney...An Adventure Down Under!". These fabulous shows host the students of Susan Chambers School of Theatre Dance and SCDC Company for an entertaining evening of song and dance. Held at the Performing Arts Center on Sugarloaf Parkway, this production is presented on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon. SCDC WINS BIG AT NEW YORK CITY DANCE ALLIANCE

SCDC attended the NYCDA convention and competition in April at the Atlanta location and scored big! Out of 10 pieces submitted, Platinum was earned by 8 of those pieces and High Gold was earned for the others. High Scores were won in Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary and in Musical Theatre. NYCDA is directed by Joe Lanteri, who is one of New York's premier teachers in contemporary and lyrical jazz. Joe is on staff at STEPS, a professional studio available to students and professionals for classes, technique and choreographic showcases. NYCDA is considered a leader in the industry of upper level dance competitions in the world of performing arts. Convention scholarships were won by several students and Summer placements were won by two. CONGRATULATIONS ON A FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE AND WORKSHOP, SCDC! |
SCDC WINS BIG AT ACCESS BROADWAY!

The Susan Chambers Dance Company brought home 14 Platinum awards, Best Choreography, and Best Director for this season's competition during the Access Broadway Convention held in Atlanta in February at the Sheraton. The coveted award "Best Choreography" has been won for the last several seasons by SCDC and the new award, "Best Director" was given for the Artistic Director that consistently brings quality choreography and dancers showing excellent training. Susan Chambers has been a leader and well deserves this honored award. Congratulations, SCDC, for your continued success. The Company had just completed their concert series the weekend before, serving the community with over 3,000 in attendance of "The Trial of Mother Goose", and 1,000 in attendance of their series, "Singin' and Dancin' The Night Away". |

Richard Lissemore From NYC Teaches At SCSTD

Richard Lissemore is an internationally recognized voice teacher, coach and pedagogue who specializes in vocal technique and performance for musical theater and pop music. His myriad of students perform on Broadway, at Carnegie Hall, at New York 's Radio City Music Hall , in both American and International touring productions and in theaters throughout the world. He has worked extensively with recording artists from many of the top record companies in the United States . In addition, he has taught on the faculties of CAP 21, the musical theater conservatory of New York University, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NY, at Rutgers University and at Music Theatre International, an opera training program which was headed by famed Metropolitan Opera basso Jerome Hines. He is especially well known for his innovative and entertaining master classes in musical theater vocal technique and performance, which are presented which are presented regularly in New York and in Europe.and concert repertoire. He has sung with Cincinnati Opera, Central City Opera, National Grand Opera, the Opera Festival of New Jersey , the Juilliard Opera Center and as a guest artist for Opera at Rutgers in roles such as Mozart's Papageno, Figaro and Masetto, Morales in Carmen, Thomas Putnam in The Crucible, Albert in Werther, Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus and Sid in Albert Herring. Mr. Lissemore's musical theatre credits include the title roles in Phantom (Kopit/Yeston) at the Jupiter Theatre, the National Tour of Phantom of the Opera (Hochman/Madden) and The Stephen Foster Story in Bardstown , KY. Other performances include The King and I in Japan with Stacey Keach, Fred Graham in Kiss Me Kate at Miami 's Ring Theatre, Ramon Novarro in Lover,The Valentino Musical at the Westport Country Playhouse and the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance with the Masterworks Chorale and Orchestra. Educated at two of America 's finest conservatories, Mr. Lissemore was a full-scholarship Young Artist at the Juilliard Opera Center and a full-scholarship Master of Music student at Cincinnati 's College-Conservatory of Music. He is also a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Microbiology and Music. In addition, he has been featured nationally on CBS television news for his innovative work in pulmonary rehabilitation at Beth Israel Medical Center. Richard is teaching voice technique in group classes and privates on Saturdays once a month for SCSTD and we are very proud to have him. Our students have seen instant improvement and have gained confidence with his very special talent in the world of vocal training. |
SCSTD STAFF MEMBER ALSO A ROCKETTE AT THE FOX

Carolyn Simpson, a Radio City Rockette performing at the Fox Theatre this season for the Christmas Spectacular, is also a staff member at the Susan Chambers School of Theatre Dance. Carolyn grew up in the resident company of SCDC at SCSTD and graduated from UGA with a dance major. She went on to perform in several touring companies, cruise lines and has been a Radio City Rockette for several years, touring in different cities with the famed company. Carolyn returned home this season, making Atlanta her home base and teaches classes with us on Monday and Tuesday in the Sugar Hill/Suwanee location. Be sure to catch the Rockettes at the Fox for a Christmas Spectacular and send her a note backstage that you are in the audience from SCSTD!! |
