Barbara
Fortier
Ballet/Pointe: Ms. Barbara Fortier is on her 19th
year of teaching classes in ballet technique, pointe work, and
variations for age appropriate 7 and up.
Her early training was Royal Academy of Dance (Grades I-IV),
receiving Honours in the children‘s examinations each year.
Later she studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Ballet
and at the New York Conservatory of Ballet.
In 1992, Ms. Fortier received an R.A.D. teaching certificate
for Grades Pre-Ballet thru VI. In 1994, she began studying
the Russian school with Stanislav Issaev of Moscow Classical
Ballet.
Currently, Ms. Fortier is performing with Kingsport Ballet.
She is on her 10th year of private study of the Vaganova technique
with Natalia
Shevchenko, former prima ballerina of Moldova Theatre.
Under Ms. Shevchenko's tutelage, she has been coached on many
classical variations:
